Our Origins
The Astral Cream® story begins in 1912, when our founder, Eleanor Astral, first concocted a rich, hydrating cream in her home kitchen. After years of struggling with dry, irritated skin herself, Eleanor set out on a mission to create skincare that delivered serious moisturisation while also feeling luxurious to use.
The very first jar of Astral Nutrient Cream was born from this purpose. Word of Eleanor’s wonder cream quickly spread across her hometown, as women raved about its incredible softening and soothing abilities. Friends and neighbours were knocking at Eleanor’s door, eager to try this skincare magic for themselves.
Soon, Eleanor was hand-stirring small batches of her cream in her kitchen nonstop to keep up with demand. And so, the Astral Cream® brand was born.
Growing the Business
The success of Astral Nutrient Cream gave Eleanor the confidence to turn her kitchen operation into a proper business. In 1916, she opened the first Astral Cream® factory, which allowed her to manufacture her products at a much larger scale while still maintaining careful quality control and standards.
As the Astral Cream® skincare line expanded over the decades, we never lost sight of Eleanor’s original purpose: creating skincare that provides tangible results while still feeling pampering and special to use. This guiding principle continues to shape every cream, lotion and cleanser we formulate today.
Over the past century, we’ve grown from Eleanor’s homemade recipes into a globally recognised skincare brand. But our team still approaches product innovation with the same care and discernment as our founder.
